Turnaround Speeds

Languages we cater listed from highest RPM to least.

Ongoing Videos

  • 200-400 minutes/month per each language 7 day turnaround
  • Up to 60 minutes/week per each language 7-10 days turnaround

Back Catalog Videos

  • 200-400 minutes/month per each language 7 day turnaround
  • Up to 60 minutes/week per each language 7-10 days turnaround
These are flexible and can be adjusted to fit your exact upload schedule.

Shorts

Our studio partners require a 10–15 minute minimum to begin a production session. Because of this requirement, we can’t accommodate individual shorts in real time as they come in.

Batching Shorts

We recommend sending 10–15 shorts together so that their combined runtime meets the 10–15 minute threshold.

Combining With Long-Form Submissions

If you have a longer video (e.g., a standard YouTube upload), you can add individual shorts to that same batch.

  • As long as the total runtime hits the 10–15 minute minimum, we can include any shorts alongside your long-form content.
Choosing a Route

A short guide to multi-language success on YouTube by HVO.

Audio Tracks

Pros

  • See how all your languages are doing in one place.
  • Upload all languages at the same time when your video is set to release.
  • All views from different countries help your main channel grow. Resulting in more brand deals.
  • Your current viewers won't mind because nothing changes for them.

Cons

  • Commitment Size: At least (40-50 uploads) need audio tracks. Summing to 80% of your videos with the highest watch-time from the last 28 days.
  • If this threshold is not met, it'll take roughly (40-50) new uploads with audio tracks to give you + YouTube enough data to start getting recommended in the right regions.
  • It takes a bit longer to see your money working for you.

More Insights:

  • See how all your languages are doing in one place.
  • Upload all languages at the same time when your video is set to release.
  • All views from different countries help your main channel grow. Resulting in more brand deals.
  • Your current viewers won't mind because nothing changes for them.
Separate Channels

Pros

  • Shorter runway time to monetization.
  • Easier for YouTube's algorithms to locate a potential new fan.

Cons

  • You have to do everything yourself for each channel.
  • You need to put your videos on each channel by yourself.
  • Watch how each channel is doing on its own.
  • HVO does not offer channel management services.

More Insights:

  • Create a unique space for viewers who speak different languages.
  • You can tailor each channel to fit the culture and language of your audience.
Uploading to YouTube

How to upload audio track to YouTube video.

P.S: Casting does not equal the final dub quality. It’s a simple example to choose a distinct voice for you.

How does ongoing billing work?

We bill you at the end of each month based on your total minute usage per language.

Will my voice actor stay the same?

Yes, we use the same voice actor(s) for all main recurring speakers in your videos.

Does HVO collect a rev-share in the dubbed material?

No.

Who owns the rights & licensing to the delivered dubs?

You do. We guarantee the transfer of all ownership rights for all localized content indefinitely.

How many studios does HVO operate in?

60 locations.

How many actors does HVO have?

Around 200 per studio and 500 individual remote actors.

How many translators does HVO have?

600 on-hand translators + 400 extra if needed.

How many audio engineers does HVO have?

30 in-house engineers.

Who does the audio mixing? Is it people in their native language or one master engineer?

The mixing & editing is done by our internal team.

Who quality checks these for language usage? The actors? Or an internal team? For example in French, who would decide between using the word for “air conditioner” as: Climatiseur vs Clima?

We have our native proofreaders in all languages who decide about language issues at the translation qc stage, before the recording takes place. After this they are recorded in our regional partner studios with native dubbing directors and sound engineers.

At what point in your process are there quality checks for audio mixing quality? For example, balance between dialogue and sfx.

After we’ve done the editing and mixing, our master sound engineer checks the final files before uploading.
